Bristol-based photographer Ania Shrimpton is raffling off her signed IDLES print to raise money for Wallace & Gromit’s The Grand Appeal, the Aardman Animations–backed charity that raises funds for Bristol Children’s Hospital.
The framed 24” x 16” photograph, signed by all five members, was captured at Simple Things festival in October, where the noisy Bristol five-piece tore up Colston Hall’s main stage.
Just a week in, Ania looks set to smash her £500 target, with over £450 donated already. Those eager to get involved have until 28 December to donate via Ania’s Just Giving page.
Every donation over £3 will be entered into a prize draw
Every donation over £3 will be entered into a prize draw, with the winner selected at random on 29 December.
Ania tells us how the idea first came about: ‘I was sitting at home thinking about Christmas and how I loved Christmas when I was a child, then I thought about all these children that will not spend this special time at home, but in hospital – and that’s very sad. That’s why I decided to raise money for Wallace & Gromit’s The Grand Appeal.

‘Originally I just wanted to make a single donation to the Grand Appeal, but then I thought that I could use the money I wanted to donate to raise even more money. I am not good enough at running to race a marathon, and shaving my head probably wouldn’t be that great for me either, so I just thought I could try and give away one of my photographs…
‘It is a signed photograph of IDLES. It is very colourful and dynamic and was taken at a very special gig at Simple Things festival. IDLES are an amazing band and loved in Bristol, so I am hoping there will be lots of interest so I can raise a decent amount of money – that’s what matters the most. And if that photograph can make someone happy, that’s great as well…’
