Drum and bass institution Hospitality and Bristol-based bass connoisseurs The Blast have teamed up on a brand new one-day festival at The Bath and West Showground this February.

Shockout will see the likes of SASASAS, High Contrast, The Prototypes, Shy FX, J Hus, Hype and Hazard, Holy Goof and My Nu Leng shelling across four arenas with a huge lineup that combines bass music titans with some of the best emerging talent.

Bristol’s Dazed are hosting Arena Four with even more major names (…) Although they’ve kept back a slot for one promising DJ talent

Bristol’s Dazed are hosting Arena Four with even more major names, including Caspa, Serial Killaz, Sammy Virji B2B Frazah and takeovers from Bristol favourites 24hr Garage Girls (with Shosh and A-Bee), Buckfast Boys Club and Dazed DJs. Although they’ve kept back a slot for one promising DJ talent – and Nitelife is delighted to be helping them in the search for their final act…

If that sounds appealing, simply show the people what you’ve got in a short SoundCloud mix. The first round will be decided by public vote, with the top five most popular mixes going through to a panel of judges from Hospitality, The Blast and Dazed.

How to enter

Upload your mix to SoundCloud by 11.59pm on Friday 2 February using the following title format: ‘(Artist name) mix for Shockout Festival’ – making sure you tag #shockout and #nitelife.

Mixes should be between 20 – 25 minutes and should showcase your DJ style within the wide spectrum of bass music.

All valid entries will be put to public vote via nitelifeonline.com and the voting period will run between midday on 5 February – 11:59pm on Wednesday 7 February.  Shameless self-promotion is allowed, if not encouraged.

The ten most popular mixes (most likes on SoundCloud between the voting period only ) will go through to a panel of judges from Hospitality, The Blast and Dazed to decide the winner.

We will announce the judges’ final decision and winning mix on Friday 9 February.

This is a bit unfair. People with a huge following already will no doubt get more views dubbing it more popular… So if you’re not actively using soundcloud you’ve basically got zero chance.
