Review // Gangta’s Paradise at Motion

Motion proved it can low key roll with the student crowd

Gangsta's Paradise - Motion

Back with a bang, Motion hosted the third in its series of 90s style house parties on Saturday night. A major student blowout, poised to fully take over the summer party scene, Motion proved it can low key roll with the rest of the team whilst ever remaining the coolest kids in class. DJs spun a classic mix of smooth 90s R&B, west coast hip hop and cheeky garage tunes in the Main Room whilst the rave was popping as always in The Tunnel with some frantic DnB.

Presented by smooth and sexy Swedish rapper Dani M, the house was soon swaying to some slicked back 90s-style tunes. Set against an epic warehouse-style industrial backdrop, Motion is the ideal Bristol venue to host a monstrous house party blowout and the event was, as usual, a complete sell out.

Notably the ‘bad boys’ of the Bristol party crowd and a national treasure on the UK underground music scene, Motion have now decided to branch into new areas, genres and vibes, thus encapsulating a wider crowd and one that sure loves to bump ’n’ grind. With a student-friendly feel and a certain scent of summer about the laid-back ambience, the house DJs spun participants into a state of chill with honey smooth R&B and classic hip hop anthems.

Aptly named Gangsta’s Paradise, the evening was the third in a series of retro house parties Motion has hosted, to a fabulous success. Low key and cool, the night took a nod of respect to the crazy all-nighters you can usually find rattling the walls of Motion, whilst keeping things fresh and fierce on the decks. A joyful sing-along throwback night inspired by the great age of sassy soul sistahz, be sure to keep an eye on the Motion listings for more from the 90s house party gang.
