Our heads are still spinning after Bam!Bam!Bam! announced that hip hop veteran Madlib and jazz’s man of the moment Kamaal Williams will be coming together all under one roof for a night of pure sonic grooves this August bank holiday, topped off by The Heliocentrics and Carista. Pre sale tickets drop this Monday and aren’t likely to stick around for long.
Madlib
One of the most celebrated individuals in music; producer, DJ and MC Madlib will be getting behind the decks at Marble Factory this August. The eclectic artist has given us his alter ego Quasimoto and cooked beats for the likes of J Dilla, MF Doom, Erykah Badu and Anderson Paak over the years. This is a rare chance to witness the pioneering producer take to the decks and watch the master at work.
Kamaal Williams
Kamaal Williams is one of the key driving forces behind the UK jazz explosion that has triggered a new era of explorative sound, putting live jazz instrumentation shoulder to shoulder with electronic genres from garage to grime.
The Heliocentrics
After winning Gilles Peterson’s 2010 Worldwide Award, London jazz collective The Heliocentrics have continued to carve their own niche sound by bringing together elements of jazz, psych, and afrobeat. The limitless, genre-bending band will be hitting the Marble Factory stage with a live performance.
Carista
On the other end of the spectrum, DJ Carista will be delivering a belter of a set, filled with electronic beats, grooves and bass heavy sounds. Known for her slots on NTS, Amsterdam’s Red Light Radio and Boiler Room sets that have gone down in history, Carista knows how to draw in a crowd with her selection of broken beats and boogie treats.
