Choose Love: Help Refugees host Cloud 9 stage at Love Saves the Day

Help Refugees and Love Saves are teaming up to help challenge negative perceptions around refugees

With the biggest lineup to date and what’s looking to be the best weather yet – with forecasts currently at 26°C of sunshine – Love Saves the Day 2017 was already headed for a good year.

Now that all goodness has taken on a new meaning, when organisers announced today that Help Refugees charity will be hosting LSTD’s second stage Cloud 9 as part of their Choose Love campaign.

On top of Cloud 9 artists donating a percentage of their fee to the charity, Help Refugees are hoping to help spread their message of Love to some 20,000 people attending the festival each day.

Choose Love is an initiative launched by Help Refugees to challenge negative perceptions around refugees. Their Katharine Hamnett-designed ‘Choose Love’ t-shirts have been spotted on celebrities including Jude Law, Judi Dench, Fatboy Slim, Jason Segel, Noel Fielding and Alexa Chung, to name a few.

We’re delighted to be able to provide the charity with a platform to talk about what they do

Team Love co-founder and Love Saves the Day director Tom Paine says: ‘We’re delighted to bring such an inspiring campaign to the festival. Since the refugee crisis began many festival industry professionals – some of whom are close friends of Team Love – have travelled to European refugee camps to volunteer their time and skills: building shelters, distributing aid and documenting and protecting unaccompanied children among many other things.

‘Help Refugees do an incredible job of supporting their work and we’re delighted to be able to provide the charity with a platform to talk about what they do.’

If you can’t wait for till next weekend, have a listen to our Cloud 9 takeover playlist from the Blast, who will be looking after the stage all day Sunday.
