Bristol cleans up at DJ Mag’s Best of British awards

Bristol had an overwhelming presence at DJ Mag's Best of British awards, with Alfresco Disco, Motion and The Loop scooping first place

DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards took place at EGG London last night and Bristol headed in strong, with at least one nomination in every category.

The results are in and, as always, Bristol proved it can punch well above its weight in the industry. Alfresco Disco scooped Best Club Event. Launching in 2005, the nomadic party-throwers have turned traditional event promotion on its head, by keeping their lineup and location top secret until you get there.

Motion Bristol season pass

Currently ranks 16th best in the global stakes, Motion last night received the prize for the UK’s Best Large Club. The converted warehouse regularly brings in the globe’s biggest underground artists, as well as cutting edge on-the-rise artists, influential label takeovers and festivals.

The next few weeks alone brings us Flying Lotus, Patrick topping, SASASAS and Skream, and they’re going into next year stronger than ever with the likes of Dusky, Andy C, Noisia, Holy Goof and John Hopkins already in the diary. For a big slice of the action, you can enter our Motion Season Pass giveaway, which will grant the holder free entry to every show until 31 March 2019.

This summer, Bristol hosted the UK’s first city centre drug testing service with anonymous drug safety testing charity The Loop, in partnership with Love Saves the Day festival. Making huge strides towards harm reduction associated with drug taking, The Loop were deservingly awarded the prize for Innovation and Excellence.
