Boomtown have announced a brand-new event space in the heart of Bristol. Fans of the festival, or those who haven’t had the chance to attend, can rejoice as Boomtown will be bringing a taste of the most immersive and theatrical party in the country to Bristol.
Boomtown’s theatrical director hinted last year that Boomtown had plans to expand beyond the August festival, with a series of Bristol-based events that would give their incredible set designs a new lease of life, as well as giving the team who bring us Boomtown a chance to flex their creative muscles through the year.
Boomtown HQ have finally confirmed the new space: AREA 404. Named after Boomtown Festival’s newest district, which appeared at Boomtown 2019 having risen out of the ashes of Sector 6.
Located near Temple Meads, AREA 404 launches with a four-date Halloween themed series
Located near Temple Meads, AREA 404 launches with a four-date Halloween themed series over two weekends in November, on 1 & 2 November and 8 & 9 November.
The public will be invited to ‘explore the deserted industrial quadrant of AREA 404: an overgrown, immersive dystopia filled with lost souls and the half-living for a night time festival experience out of this world’.

The five-room, ‘warren-like complex’ will also be showcasing the variety of music genres the festival famously boasts, with high-energy live music in the main room and a spectrum of reggae, techno, house, drum and bass and disco elsewhere.
The organisers of the festival, Chris Rutherford and Luke Marcus Mitchell, both hail from Bristol, and are excited about the opportunity to bring their creation back to their hometown.
it feels like a proper homecoming for us
‘We are so pleased to be able to finally announce this venue, it feels like a proper homecoming for us! We’re unbelievably excited to be able to showcase everything we’ve grown into since we started putting on gigs in Bristol over a decade ago.
‘To be able to bring our unique mix of interactive and immersive theatre, the beautifully hand-crafted intricate set designs and to represent a huge amount of music genres all under one roof, is going to be something incredibly special.’
This comes as great news to Bristol locals with a love for the nightlife scene, as the closure of venues seems to be coming thick and fast within the city, this new permanent venue will offer a new canvas for the city to express its colourful and vibrant energy.
Tickets for the AREA 404 events flew out at record speed, though there are tickets remaining for Friday 8 November’s party, if you’re quick –
