One of the underground’s biggest driving forces, Pinch is natural innovator, continually exploring new territory (then sending for the rest of us). The producer and Tectonic boss played a major role in establishing a dubstep scene in Bristol, co-founding the legitimately legendary Subloaded nights alongside Blazey Bodynod in 2004. It was the first major dubstep night outside of London and saw sets from the likes of Digital Mystikz, Kode 9, Plastician, Youngsta and Skream alongside Bristol’s major players, Joker, Peverelist, Hodge and Pinch himself.

Subloaded officially retired after almost a decade in 2013, but after a successful one-off last year to mark Tectonic 100, Teachings in Dub and Trinity are joining forces with Pinch once again to answer demand for a second instalment. The monster lineup represents some of Bristol’s best new talent alongside the veterans, and some never before seen B2Bs – operating the lineup as one connecting DJ chain, with each act playing a mini B2B either side of their set.

1. What have you learned today?
That Brexit is still a serious nonsense and that The Donald is so greasy no one can pin him down. Same as yesterday.
2. Which song by another artist most inspires you?
Anything by Rhythm & Sound.
3. Who are your top three acts right now?
That’s not how I think in real life, I don’t really have favourites. Three acts I like at the moment that randomly come to mind: Equiknoxx, Szare, Sleeper.
4. It’s 2am and the party is winding down, what track do you play to get everyone going again?
It’s never been winding down when I’m on the decks at 2am.
5. If you couldn’t work in music, what would you be doing instead?
6. What was the last book you read?
Straw Dogs by John Gray.
7. Most recent binge watch?
I watched all four episodes of the new series of Luther in one sitting, last week.
8. Do you have a party trick?
I can burp ‘OohVaaahVoo’ without much thought going into it.
9. Tell us something people don’t generally know about you…
In collaboration with Tony aka Addison Groove, we’ve just launched a new spirit brand called Mezky. It’s a blend of fine quality mezcal, aged in Islay Malt Whisky casks – very smokey and very tasty! Ask for it at The Love Inn next time you’re down there or go to mezky.com to buy direct. I hear it’s the best new drink in town…
10. What are you doing tomorrow?
I’ll be working on a vocal track in the morning, making micro edits and fine tuning details. I’ve got a couple hours DJ practice booked in just after lunch and then, in the afternoon, some meetings to sell Mezky at a couple of Bristol bars. Dinner and a bit of telly with my wife in the evening, then probably back to the studio until bed time.
