Murmurings of #Thekla35 have been spreading through social media, with a flurry of events announced over the past few days. The final announcements landed today, giving shape to four days of live music and club events to mark 35 years of Thekla. Here’s the full run down – 

Thursday 2 May  // Pressure: Steve Lamacq DJ Set 

Kicking off birthday celebrations, BBC Radio 6 Music presenter and IDLES mega fan Steve Lamacq takes the reins for a very special edition of Thekla’s weekly indie and alternative club night. Tickets >>

Friday 3 May // October Drift

Following tours with Editors and White Lies, Taunton-based rockers October Drift open Thekla 35’s live offering, with support from Bristol’s Some Bodies and more TBA. Tickets >> 

Friday 3 May // Pangaea

Hessle Audio boss Pangaea will be bringing his hybrid sound to Thekla on Friday night, mixing everything from jungle to techno, garage or acid. Support comes from Borai and Denham Audio,  with Bristol party Pixels hosting a top deck takeover. Tickets >>

Saturday 4 May // Laid Blak and Dr Meaker

Two of Bristol’s finest will serve up Saturday’s live music portion, featuring reggae heavyweights Laid Black and live drum and bass-meets-soul collective Dr Meaker. Warm up vibes will be provided by dubwise DJ Fat Stash. Tickets >>

Saturday 4 May // Pop Confessional: The Daft Punk Experience

The Daft Punk tribute will be giving a special performance of the helmet-clad duo’s finest works at Thekla’s birthday weekend edition of Pop Confessional. Tickets >> 

Sunday 5 May // Sœur

Bristol’s brilliant dual-fronted grunge pop meets math rock trio Sœur front a guitar-heavy lineup from 2pm on Sunday, alongside Leeches, Sans, Slonk, Indigo and more still to be announced. Tickets >> 

Sunday 5 May // Roni Size & Dynamite MC

Bristol drum and bass pioneers Roni Size and Dynamite MC will be making a special appearance to close birthday proceedings, with an extended three-hour set as part of a late-night DnB blowout, including The Insiders with live vocals from Collette Warren, and Ben Soundscape.  Tickets >>
