Get your girl power fix this Thursday night when R&B legends En Vogue play at Bristol’s O2 Academy. They’re here to promote their seventh studio album, Electric Café – released this Friday – and their first release in fourteen years, since 2004’s Soul Flower.
The current trio is made up of original members Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron and Rhona Bennett who joined in 2003 after the departure of Dawn Robinson and Maxine Jones. Despite many lineup reshuffles throughout the years, Ellis and Herron have always been there, holding it all together.
Electric Café features collaborations with Raphael Saadiq, Ne-Yo, Dem Jointz, Curtis ‘Sauce’ Wilson as well as original songwriting duo Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy. The full album release is preceded by singles Déjà Vu, I’m Good and Have a Seat, featuring Snoop Dogg, as well as the official lead single Rocket which comes with a video with all three looking as beautiful and feisty as ever.
Formed in Oakland California in 1988, En Vogue have been going strong for two decades now. Their biggest hits include Hold On, Whatta Man, Free Your Mind and, of course, Don’t Let Go (Love) and the iconic divas are considered to be one of the best female groups of all time, selling twenty million records worldwide to date. The group have won an impressive seven MTV Video Music Awards, three Soul Train Awards, two American Music Awards, and received seven Grammy nominations.
