The undisputed calendar event of the year for sound system heads is back with their fourth installment and it’s got our hairs on end already.
A chance meeting on the Eurostar a few years ago between Deep Medi boss Mala and Dubkasm’s DJ Stryda sparked a beautiful meeting of minds that has resulted in Bristol’s now-annual Teachings in Dub x Deep Medi: The Weekender – a two-night blowout with some of the most important artists in the worlds of reggae and dubstep.

Mala’s luminary dubstep label Deep Medi and Stryda’s purist reggae sound system night Teachings in Dub will be coming together under one roof once again at Trinity Centre, this time powered by the mighty Mungo’s Hi Hi (who will also be stepping into a live slot on Saturday).
As is tradition, Friday night will be mostly catered to dubstep fans, while Saturday is more dubwise focussed, with some crossover – although attendees are encouraged to come to both nights and appreciate sound system music come full circle; as Stryda explains: ‘We want to celebrate sound system culture as a whole and bridge the gap between the scenes.’
To celebrate the lineup announcement, three-times Medi-released producer Compa has given us an exclusive hour-long dubstep mix for a taste of what to expect from his set on Friday night. You can listen to the full Compa guest mix over on nitelife NOISE.
Tickets for TiD x Deep Medi: The Weekender Pt. 4 are available now – be warned, they go quickly. Check out the full lineup below:
