One of Bristol’s most exciting alt-rock outfits No Violet are gearing up to release the second single from their debut EP Faces (dropping in full on 14 September), and we’ve been granted an exclusive first-listen before it’s released on Bristol’s Leisure Records tomorrow.
Drenched in grunge, No Violet deliver a sort of understated epicness that’s compounded by its four powerful components
Drenched in grunge, No Violet deliver a sort of understated epicness that’s compounded by its four powerful components. Ellie provides the lyrical brawn, her warbling vocals carrying the weight behind her words. She’s met in the middle by guitarist Rhys, who delivers the same kind of emotive playing as mid-Chili Peppers’ John Frusciante. Together, Kerry on bass and Pete on drums control the song’s energy like a pressure valve, leading to a satisfyingly climactic finish.
