If the events of 2020 have left this year’s summer playlist looking pretty sparse, then our premier of Harmer Jays’ new quirky pop number Freight Line may offer some relief. Featuring 80’s inspired synths that naturally induce a feeling of poolside sunshine combined with almost contrasting poetic lyrics, this upbeat sounding track would sit comfortably alongside Metronomy’s legendary The Bay.

Hinting the sounds of James Blake, Maggie Rogers and The 1975, Bristol-based Harmer Jays’ take on pop music is familiar and yet unique. His first release How Sweet premiered on ‘BBC upload’ and while it is far more sombre than this latest release, it is clear from just two tracks that this young talent has a mature grasp on building emotional connections with listeners and we’re very excited about the string of releases he has planned for the rest of 2020.

Freight Line drops on all major streaming platforms on the 3rd July and you can follow Harmer Jays at Facebook / Instagram / Twitter / Spotify / Apple Music
