PLAYLIST // Cosies’ 30th birthday series launches with Digital Reggae: Conscious Sounds

Conscious Sounds heads up a night of Digital Reggae

Tonight, Cosies launch a special four-date midweek series to mark their 30th birthday with a Digital Reggae special honouring the digital evolution of reggae music by the likes of King Tubby and Prince Jammy, with special guest Conscious Sounds.

Dougie Wardrop aka Conscious Sounds has been working behind the scenes for three decades, making forward-thinking UK digital reggae under various guises including Bush Chemist, Hydroponics and Digi-Tal from his Conscious Sounds studio in London.

After the launch special, the series will explore the sounds of Bristol every Wednesday night through September headed up by local heroes in their own field. Idle Hands’ Chris Farrell with Kelly Twins and Dixon will host a night of house and RnB, RSD with Ishan Sound and Medis will bring a night of dubstep to the Cosies cave, with Stryda leading a dancehall and roots special with Jah Lokko and Riesh Tafari.

As Cosies mark 30 years, who better than this foundational UK reggae artist to start celebrations. Conscious Sounds will be supported on tonight by Bristol’s own Spud Roots and Kamaha – who has kindly enough to put together a playlist to give us a flavour of tonight’s sounds.
