Vampire Weekend-esque guitar plucking, calypso rhythms and heady vocals are just part of the allure rising indie trio Cassia. Last year saw the band at major festivals including Reading and Leeds, as well as DHP family’s Dot-to-Dot festival (where they return for 2018 this May), plus their own spree of headline shows around the UK.
Forming just over two years ago in their hometown of Macclesfield, Cassia continue to gather momentum, selling out an impressive 11 dates across their most recent winter and spring tours.
In fact, Bristol is one of the only locations not to sell out, so we decided to get to know the guys a bit better by asking them to compile an Influences playlist for us.
From the depths of their well-worn tour bus, Cassia have put together over an hour’s worth of tunes that have helped shaped the band’s captivating brand of ‘summer music from Manchester’. From staple musical education like Talking Heads to psychedelic instrumental trio Khruangbin, plug in and get an insight into the musical workings of Cassia before their headline show at SWX this Thursday.
