Local producer Jack Priest is bringing his London-born feel-good Deck-a-Dance nights back home to Bristol. The concept is simple: Jack curates a lineup of DJs that he loves and brings it to the people.
The inaugural Bristol edition sees Dan Shake’s disco-infused Detroit sound takes the headline slot. The Rinse FM resident first piqued our ears with his 2014 debut release on Moodymann’s Mahogani Music. His 12” edit Shake Tapes series has received nods from the likes of Antal, Mafalda and Gilles Peterson and earlier this year he smashed his sophomore Boiler Room appearance at Sugar Mountain in Melbourne.
Joining him is Flying Lotus collaborator, US jazz-house genius Byron The Aquarius and some Bristol talent in the shape of Daisy Moon, Syz and Sam Hall, who between them will be interweaving all manner of things house and techno. Not forgetting Jack Priest, who himself has some serious clout to his name, releasing his Ladies Night EP on the mighty Wolf + Lamb Records earlier this year.
expect plenty of those warm and fuzzy Balaeric beats, downtempo disco vibes and hands raised high up in the air
Jack has put together an exclusive hour-long mix to get us in the mood for tonight’s proceedings, where you can expect plenty of those warm and fuzzy Balaeric beats, downtempo disco vibes and hands raised high up in the air.
He tells us, ‘I love doing these nights because I get to warm up for a DJ that I love. And it’s so important to get that right – it sets the pace for the whole night and you get to pick the sweet spot for the artist.’
Get a taste of that sweet spot with the full Jack Priest guest mix above.
