Bristol / Birmingham junglists Born on Road have been making friends across genres, including reggae and hip hop -always on a dancehall lean – since the label was formed a few years ago by like-minded group of DJs and producers: Aries, Kelvin 373, Stivs and Gold Dubs.
With releases from Ed West and Inja, Gardna and Joe Peng, Jam Baxter, Jinx in Dub and a tonne of memorable parties under their belt, they’ve quickly established themselves as a label known for doing what they do very well indeed.
They’ll be returning to Bristol-born, Chepstow-based Balter Festival this June to defend their title of soundclash champions with special guests Gardna and Selecta J-Man, this time battling it out against the Rumble in the Jungle residents, who will be bringing the cavalry in the shape of special guests Benny Page and Serum.
It will be a four-hour dubplate heavy clash of the titans
The good people at Balter told us: ‘Last year it is generally said that Born on Road beat Chopstick Dubplate in the first annual soundclash, although, as there was no proper judge, it was a hotly contested victory! This year Born on Road will be bringing in a variety of surprise guests as they go up against the Rumble in the Jungle residents, as well as their special guests Benny Page and Serum and their own selection of surprise DJs and vocalists. It will be a four-hour dubplate heavy clash of the titans to end the festival in style!’
We asked Born on Road to give us a taste of the kind of vibes they’ll be bringing with them to Balter, so they’ve treated us to this 40-minute exclusive mix.
