Bengal Sound has been quietly scaling the underground dance music world in the past year, with two tracks on Lemzley Dale’s Pearly Whites’ Vol. 2 compilation in September last year, followed up swiftly with his brilliant Wushu Hand Ep, cut to wax on Zha’s much respected White Peach Records in November.

Even more heads turned his way when Bristol’s Bandulu Gang announced Bengal Sound would  play their Trinity Centre takeover this Friday, alongside Bandulu members Kahn, Neek, Boofy and Hi5ghost; plus extended gang Commodo, Riz La Teef, Sir Hiss, Drone and LUCY.

Bengal Sound is already establishing himself as part of a generation of producers that are set to be making sonic waves for years to come

Working primarily in dubstep and grime, at 23 years old Bengal Sound is already establishing himself as part of a generation of producers that are set to be making sonic waves for years to come. As Zha recently told Red Bull Music, ‘In time, we’ll look back at the next few years as another golden era. An era when the new Skreams, Malas, Caspas and Ruskos all gave us their critical breakthrough music…’

Despite being busy finishing up his third year Electronic Music Production degree at dBs Music Bristol, he’s also got a 10-track limited edition album due for release on tape on 25 May. Titled Culture Clash, the release will be limited to 100 copies and showcase influences from two different cultures – Bollywood and UK electronic music, with artwork by Bristol artist Joshua Hughes-Games who is widely known for his work with Bandulu Records.
